ETC.: this twenty-six year old is very protective of his sisters. he doesn't like any type of silliness or horse play. with being in the marines derrek is very serious, this young man is quiet and takes what his mother taught him at a young age, should be seen not heard. even though he isn't a child anymore he still conducts himself in such manner. although he is twenty-six he is extremely mature. there aren't many things that faze him. in the marines he was exposed to a multitude of things. as for women derrek is slightly awkward around them. his tongue often gets tied and doesn't know what to say. once he gets to know someone he is much more comfortable around them. at first he is standoffish and doesn't talk to most anyone. for the way he was raised he has a hard time speaking his mind, he was taught to be quiet and his opinion hardly mattered. his parents however forgot to mention that was as a child. because he went into it, most people think that he likes the idea of war. wrong, that is completely and utterly wrong. derrek believes that war is a mindless act of violence. talking is his strong point but for some it is and the twenty-six year old thinks that that's how situations should be solved. by talking it out, or at least trying. derrek isn't one to express his emotions and is very good at holding them in. every now and then he will let them out but only in private, of course.

HISTORY: derrek is the oldest son and first born of the brookes. waiting about two years his brother came into the followed by his sisters, isabelle and evelyn. the four siblings were very close and with being the oldest comes the reasonability and second nature of being protective over the rest. derrek was always the quiet one and loved to be by himself. with four children not wanting to do anything extracuricular lovette and jackson signed the siblings up for horseback riding.
all four took to it like they had been with it there whole life. belle and derrek loved western as for the other two both styles suited them. eventually like everyone else they grew up, derrek being the first to leave. he shipped himself off to the marine core. his brother followed him, but unforunatly he didn't make it too long. the twenty-five year old recieved news that his little brother had been killed. sucking it up the pain ate him away, but didn't let it show. with the shocking news of his parents' death not too long after derrek decided it was time to go home to make sure nothing happened to his remaining family members. to see his dogs, horses, and sisters.
