Aria Rose
Aria had just settled into her apartment and she was in desperate need of coffee. Her body was drained of any energy, but she didn't feel like sleeping, plus it was in the middle of the day! The hot sun beat down on the young girl as she strode along making her way to the coffee shop in town. It was just a leisurely walk, she was in no hurry, but of course her muscles ached so much she was regretting that she hadn't drove. A small sigh was released as her hand reached for the handle of the coffee shop. She was showing off her legs wearing shorts and t-shirt to top. While her hair was pulled back in a simple pony-tail. She didn't look her best, but at the moment she didn't care. Her mind was screaming, Please get coffee in my now!
The minute she opened the door, a breeze blew back her brunette locks and an aroma of coffee filled her nostrils. It brought a smile to her face. Coffee shops were probably one of her favorite places. It was always just so cozy and felt safe to her. Her eyes lingered around the place finding a small empty table by the front of the shop. Her head turned sharply as she looked up at the menu trying to decide what she wanted. Something cool. It was blazing hot outside! She laced her fingers together and placed them under her chin as her thoughts lingered. The worker behind the counter waited patiently for her to say something. Her dark brown eyes continued to search the menu until she finally decided on something. She stepped up to the counter. and procedded to order a mocha frappe. Something simple, yet it was smooth and delicious. Plus with the hint of chocolate, who wouldn't love it?
It was just a matter of minutes after she had paid for her drink, that it was finished. She gracefully made her way towards the empty table that she had seen earlier. It was almost dead in the coffee shop. A few people sitting, their eyes glued to their laptops. A small sigh was released and she took a sip of the cool, icy drink. A smile spread across her lips. "Mmmm" and her eyes closed as the cool liquid slid down her throat. She set her drink down and proceeded to gaze out the window. Slowly getting lost in thought. A few stray hairs fell into her view and she pushed them out of the way. She continued to drink her frappe. Slowly as she just sat and people watched. Enjoying the moment of relaxation.

She wasn't exactly bored, but she wanted to get out of the apartment. She wasn't used to being stuck in a place for so long, especially one so tiny. The idea that it was hers still startled the young woman.
The blonde decided to head out and explore the town a bit. Since she was brand new to it all, she hardly knew it. Addie figured that if she wanted to stay here permanently, she might as well get to know the town and its people. She got in her car with no real idea of where she was going; she just took the main road and headed into the more retail-oriented part of town. If that's what you wanted to call it. Cedar Creek was your stereo-typical American small town. There was one main road you followed to get to the apartments on the edge of town. The further you traveled in the more you stores and people you came across. There were no big commercialized stores. Everything was local. But Addie liked that, she found it endearing, really. Especially the little coffeehouse. She decided to pull over, deciding she liked what she saw.
Addie got out of her car and quickly walked inside. The cool air and dim lighting were a welcome escape from the heat outside. Sweat rolled down her back and she frowned. Something cold was definitely needed right now. She approached the counter and ordered a iced vanilla coffee. After placing her order, Addie looked around, taking in the atmosphere. There were several tables set up, all of them full to her dismay. Leather booths lined the back and local paraphernalia lined the walls. A little stage was set up near the front, but it was currently empty. It was quaint, but Addie liked it. She was brought back to attention when her drink was handed to her. "Thanks." she grinned at the cashier and wandered to the back, hoping to find a seat. No such luck. Her eyes wandered to a girl who was sitting by herself at a table. She looked nice enough, so Addie approached her. "Hey there. It's kinda packed in here, do you mind if I sit with you?" she asked politely, hoping the brunette would accept her offer.

Aria RoseThe petite female continued to watch the people as they walked about with their arms loaded with shopping bags from the local boutiques in town. It was a small town and everyone seemed to know everyone. People would stop each other and start gabbing on the sidewalk or give a wave from across the road. Everyone had a small smile on their face it seemed. Aria watched as the coffee shop soon became busier and busier. This really wasn't her forte to be in busy places like this but she really just wanted to stay and enjoy the atmosphere of it all! She was only half done with her frappe and it was just too hot to start walking back to her apartment. She was still basically regretting the fact that she hadn't drove.
She took a hold of her mocha frappe and took another sip. The coolness of the container and the liquid mad her shiver a little. At this moment a young women was standing before her. A small barely visible smile came to Aria's face as she looked up at the girl. A quick glance around revealed to her that this place was busier that she had thought. Aria had really only been watching the people coming and going and hadn't noticed the one's that had planted themselves at a table or booth. Hi, umm, yeah sure sit down She motioned to the chair across from here. The table was small, intimate if you will, but this girl before her seemed harmless. I'm Aria She said, her tones quiet and shy like, though she impressed herself by being the first one to hand her name over. That very faint smile still on her facials as she took another drink. Her chocolate brown eyes lingering about, making very little eye contact, though it was nice to be sitting with someone. For her, company was always welcome, even if her shyness made it difficult at first.

She hoped that her being so upfront would bite her in the behind. She supposed she could always sit outside if the other girl said no. It would just be a tiny bit embarrassing. But hey. She'd been through far worse. However, the brunette accepted her offer and Addie smiled graciously at her. "Thanks! I appreciate it." She looked own at the seat the other girl had offered her and sat down, putting her drink on the table and her bag beside her. The seat was pretty comfy and they had a good view of the people coming and going. Addie's eyes drifted to the people milling about for a moment, but she quickly returned her attention to the young woman in front of her who introduced herself. She smiled back at her.
"Pretty name. I'm Addie Hastings, it's nice to meet you." Addie said, tucking her hair behind her ear. While the blonde loved meeting new people, she knew that at first she could be a bit... intimidating, because she was so outgoing. Observing the other girl, she made note to tone it down a bit because she seemed shy. And that was fine with Addie. She'd known quiet people her whole life, and while she wasn't one of them she did happen to befriend many of them. The blonde took a sip of her drink and offered another smile at Aria. "So, I'm new here and really don't know anybody yet. Sorry in advance for the awkward meeting. Sitting with strangers in coffee shops is not how I normally meet people." Addie chuckled and swirled her straw around in her cup before continuing. "Have you been here in Cedar Creek long?" she asked, hoping to start polite conversation. Maybe if this girl was a local she could give her some tips about what was what in town. |

Aria RoseThis girl sitting across the table was so out there, so out going, so..... intimidating for someone like Aria! Though of course once she got to know an individual better on would say Aria could be the exact same. Perhaps one of these days she would finally break from her shell and be more like Addie...? Was it? Yes, her name is Addie. A small flush of color filled her checks as Addie complemented on her name. Thank you A faint smile rested upon her lips as her gaze flickered to the people that were coming and going. Feeling a breeze of warm air when people opened the door. It always seemed to be unreasonably cold in coffee shops, so the warm was welcome!
Aria took another sip of her drink as the blonde young women began to speak again. Her chocolate brown eyes remained on her as she spoke of being new and how she didn't normally do this. What? I thought everyone met odd and new people at coffee shops A small laugh was released as this thought crossed Aria's mind. Her attention was quickly turned back to Addie as she questioned on how long Aria had been there. She looked down at her drink and played with her straw. I just settled into my apartment. It's not far from here. I have only been here a few days. Haven't been out and about and I haven't really met any people Her tone was just loud enough for Addie to hear over the hustle and bustle of the coffee shop and her gaze returned to Addie's. She wasn't completely and shy was warming up to the blonde. Addie didn't seem threatening, just had that kind of personality. The whole I am who I am and you are just going to deal with it. It didn't bother Aria any, most people were just like this back home. How about you...? Been here long? Aria asked, assuming that Addie was also new to town. "You're welcome." Why don't I have an interesting name? Mine's so... dull. The blonde thought to herself. In all honesty she'd never had much of a problem with her name, but once in a while she wished it were a bit more interesting. She took another sip of her drink and looked up at the door as it opened. The warm bursts of air were quite a contrast to the freezing cold air conditioning that was blasting from the units in the coffeehouse. A burst came through each time someone new came in, and Addie found herself looking at the face of each person who entered. She didn't know why. Since she was new and hardly knew anybody at all, the likelihood that a familiar face would cross the threshold was slim. But Addie had always been one to look up whenever someone new entered the room. Some called it nosiness, she called it curiosity.
The blonde directed her attention back to Aria, who informed her she had just moved here a little bit ago. "Hey, me too! I'm in Cedar Creek Pines, have been for about...three weeks." she thought. It felt like she'd been here so much longer. In those three weeks she'd done a lot; gotten an apartment, a job, a horse. Her life was slowly but surely coming together here. The only thing that was really missing from it was people. "Being new kinda sucks. I mean, everybody here is so close-knit that it's hard to find your own niche, y'know? Or at least that's what's happening to me." Addie said, fiddling with a napkin in thought. |

Aria RoseHer eyes widened as Addie had said she had been here for three weeks...and she still didn't know many people. Well, this news wasn't exactly good for her! I mean we are talking about a shy girl who has some serious issues. She was always up for making friends, but when it came down to it, in a town like this, it could be difficult! Why oh why had she thought this was a good idea! A small sigh was released as her thoughts slowly wondered away from the girl talking before her, a small yearning to be back home in the comforts of North Dakota. A faint smile spreading across her facials as she thought about home. It was so different from here. So comfortable, so natural. Aria's attention quickly turned back to Addie as she realized that she was drifting off into space. Oh! Um, yeah, I know what you mean Aria tried to recompose herself as she made it look like she was paying attention to Addie the whole time. Though I have really only been here a few days. I barely know my way around town! Aria exclaimed cooly and took another sip from her frappe. It was beginning to become water down as she was nearing the end, as all the contents were melting together. A small look of disgust crossed her facials as she set the drink down. But I can see it Lyrics whispered and her gaze shot up from her drink to Addie. Everyone here has their own little clique. And many don't let outsiders in. I've watched it. Even though I am still new here. It seems like only the new comers are nice enough to offer their seat or a friendly hello Aria's words a little icy as she spoke, this town was just so full of secrets so...different. Of course there was a rumor circulating her apartment about a murder, but Aria never really paid much attention.
On a lighter not she changed direction of conversation realizing that this was probably not the best way to make friends. So do you own a horse? Where are you from? Of course everyone owned a horse here! What kind of question was that?! Though the western riders are few and far in between, who knows, maybe Addie is one! Aria was starting to open up to this girl across from her rather quickly it seemed. Maybe she wouldn't be such a closed book anymore, but in this town...who knows. Addie said with a chuckle. Then, to avoid seeming like a shut out, she spoke again. I try to get out and explore as much as I can but I find myself pretty busy at my apartment or out at the barn. This is my first place so it's kind of a big change for me." The blonde spoke, twirling her straw in her cup. This was true; she'd been busy getting cheap furniture to fill up the nearly vacant space she occupied. If she found that she'd stay here permanently, Addie decided she would invest in some nice furniture. But until then, everything was just preliminary.
"Yeah, it's pretty sad. Although I can understand it, I suppose. Close knit town like this, they must be cautious about letting outsiders in, for one reason or the other." Addie said. She wondered what it would have been like growing up here. Even the town her grandmother raised her in was bigger than this. And it certainly wasn't as close knit as Cedar Creek was, by any means. But she was grateful for the opportunity to have lived in somewhere a little bigger and more social. A lot of the people here seemed to be a tad...sheltered, almost. That was one thing she didn't wish to be.
The blonde smiled at the change of conversation. Horses. "Well, I have one. Sorta. Her name's Dot. I'm leasing her and if it all works out I'm gonna buy her from her current owners in a few months. I'm really, really excited. Addie couldn't wipe the grin off her face as she spoke about Dot. She sometimes felt like a prideful mother, it was that big of a deal. "Oh, I'm from Northern California. I've moved around a lot though. I'm a bit of a drifter. What about you?" Addie asked, genuinely curious.

Aria RoseAria listened to what Addie had to say and basically shrugged off a majority of what she had to say. She just nodded and agreed with what she mostly had to say in return to her words. Talk about a mood change! It happened though, every once in awhile! This town just irked her a little bit and it came out. But Aria was not moving any time soon.
A smile spread across her facials as Addie spoke of Dot. This horse sounded lovely! And she could tell Addie loved her very much just by the way she spoke and the way her eyes lit up and the smile across her face. Of course, Hum made Aria feel the same way! That is great! I hope you get her! She exclaimed. I have a buckskin gelding. His name is Hum. I bought him here, seeing as my old reliable had to be sold due to ranch issues... her voice trailed for a moment. But Hum is a great horse. He does everything I ask. So laid back and chill, but will go when you ask him. He loves barrels, which I was incredibly happy about! Aria stopped as she seemed to just go on and on about her newly found horse. Though he was a dream to her! She hadn't had a horse in a few years and it was great to have one now. Oh, I'm from a working ranch in North Dakota. Haven't really moved around much, so this is a first for me. Haven't really been this far from home, but I am liking it here Lyrics spoke out. She was proud of where she came from and loved to tell all these city folks where she was from. Though Addie didn't seem like a city girl, Aria still loved to tell where she was from.
Gaze flickered down to her drink, seeing that is was almost gone a slight frown flitted across her facials as she finished it and looked back up at Addie. Want to go for a ride or something? I haven't ridden Hum much since I got him. I've been too busy unpacking and rearranging! Her eyes rolled slightly at the thought of having to rearrange constantly until it was to her liking. her chocolate brown eyes watched Addie anxiously, waiting for her answer.
