Ry Wolff
Shifting the hunter green, S-10 pick-up into park, Ryder sighed as he killed the engine. Then he looked in the mirror of the truck making sure his short brown hair was all in position and then he closed his hazel eyes and took a deep breath. It was his first Saturday on the job at Barton’s, he was a Waiter/Busboy on the occasional weekend. He’d just shaved his beard and mustache, he wanted to look presentable for meeting his new bosses. Satisfied he glanced over on the passenger seat of his truck and rubbed the blue merle head of his Australian Shepard.
“Well Niaux…here goes nothing. Wish me luck.” The dog barked a little at his master and Ry chuckled. Cracking open the driver and passenger windows, then unlatched the passenger door, making sure the lights went off he smiled as he stepped out, the door was cracked a little in case Niaux decided he wanted to explore the small town, then with a last calming breath, Ryder stepped into the small family owned restaurant. “Hello? Is anyone here?” Ry asked as he approached the counter. Shortly thereafter an elderly couple stepped up to the other side. Hello young man. What can we help you with? The old man asked as he smiled at Ry.
Ry smiled as he spoke to the couple. “I’m your occasional weekend waiter slash busboy, Ryder David Wolff.” He gave them another smile and the woman spoke. Oh, it will be so nice having help on these weekend days. C’mon, let’s get you acquainted with the restaurant and where everything is. Ry smiled as he stepped behind the counter with the couple to get acquainted with his new job. About two hours later, Ry knew the restaurant almost as well as his own house and was setting the tables for the morning breakfast crowd while the couple worked in the back. He was ready for work.
