The nights breeze whirled through the window of her massive dodge ram, gravel and dust sprayed behind it. The radio blared "Country Boy" by Aaron Lewis, she sang every word with her thick southern accent. Pulling up she parked in the barn's empty parking lot. Despite being at this place in the morning to ride her other horse she had things to do during the day that required her attention, now she's back to ride her western horse Lucky. It was easier to work her hot headed jumper in the mornings since that mare would always cause too much of a fuss about going outside if she hadn't gotten ridden bright and early. Riding or just tooling around the barn at night is very peaceful due to the fact that its cooler and there is generally no one around at 8 o'clock such as now.
Practically jumping to the ground, the 5'2 brunette closed the door behind her before heading into the barn, flipping a few light switches that lit up that section of the barn before heading in. Mid-way down the aisle Lucky nickered to Mia, must of been the sound of her cow girl boots hitting the cement isle that gave her away. The palomino stuck her blazed face out of stall door as she muched on some hay. The sight of her horses happy always got to her, it was a great sight for sore eyes. Once she reached Lucky she quickly kissed her nose before heading to the tack room. Before lifting her things she adjusted her light blue daisy dukes and her black form fitting tanktop. Swiftly she put her lime green and hot pink professional choice boots in her grooming box, with the grooming box in one hand she grabbed her western bridle. Mia decided that she hadn't felt like whiping out the heavy western saddle tonight. No tonight was going to be some bareback bonding time between her and her horse. One can't take life for granted.Returning to the asle Mia set the box on the floor then the bridle on an empty hook.
Going to Lucky's stall, grabbing the mare's engraved leather halter off the door before sliding the door open. The palomino took another bite of hay before heading over to see Mia with her golden ears pricked forward. "Come on girly, ain't got all day." Mia's thick southern accent was the only thing one could hear other than the sound of all the horses munching on their food or the sound of the lights lowly humming. When the mare got close Mia slipped the worn halter over her slender head, the lead had already attached since whomever brought her in from turnout during the day must of forgotten to unclip it. Sliding the stall door open further so the mare could pass before she led the mare to the middle of the isle onto the rubber matted middle. Throwing the part of the lead that she was just holding over the mare's neck, she grabbed a hard brush before returning to Lucky. Mia wasn't a fan of cross ties, although some horses need it, she had taught Lucky to ground tie, something most western horses know how to do. The mare's golden coat shined even in the dim lighting. Grabbing the hoof pick she started picking the mare's hooves, running a hand down the mares leg before she gave it to Mia to pick up. "Good pony," she said quietly to the mare. Obviously she isn't a pony but its just something she says to horses of all sizes.

Johnny OliverLord only knows why he had decided to show up at the barns at this later hour. Probably because he was going to make sure his horse, Red, was settled in, but a horse like him was an easy keeper and nothing really upset him. Even new places like this. He drove up the long drive in his black and chromed out crew cab ram 1500. A smirk spread across his facials as Springsteen blared out his speakers and he began to sing the lyrics. His windows were rolled down and the sound of Eric Church's voice trailed out into the night air. It was only a matter of minutes before he pulled up in front of the barn. His blue eyes saw the same type of truck. Hmm must be the truck of choice around here. A small chuckle was given to this thought as he killed the motor and hopped out.
He reached back in the black truck and pulled out his black felt cowboy hat and plopped it on his head covering his light brunette hair. His boots crunched the gravel under his feet until they hit the concrete. He figured his big thoroughbred was probably half asleep by now, or content eating. When in his stall, he wasn't the horse to see who was in the barn, he would much rather eat or sleep. He was on lazy thoroughbred, but Johnny loved the boy. He stopped at his stall, not noticing anyone else around. "Hey there big boy" he cooed out to his red sorrel horse. Red picked up his head and gave a low nicker and made his way to his master. Johnny began stroking the horse on his massive head. A smile plastered to his facials.
This was when he finally heard someone moving about and getting their horse ready for a ride. He turned to find a girl in daisy dukes and a black tank and his smile only widened. Just the kinda girl he liked. He continued to watch her and listen as she spoke the palomino mare. He leaned up against Red's stall, still continuing to stroke the big horses head. He finally decided to let the girl know that he was there. "Tell me, why is a good looking girl like you out here this late, unaccompanied?" Lyrics spoke out in a deep voice as he pushed his shoulder off the stall and moseyed his way on over the girl. A smile still plastered to his face as he stopped close to her, but kept the horses head between them. He reached up and touched the horses neck. "You have a beautiful horse on your hands" lyrics spoke out again and his blue eyes were fixed on the girl before him. A sweet smile still plastered to his facials.

earing a mans voice breaking the silence she turned, still bent over with Luckys hoof in one hand. Blushing slightly since it was most likely a bit revealing to be in that position with very low cut daisy dukes but it wasn't the first time she wore anything revealing. Mia likes to party a lot and despite some women considering her dressing "trashy" she just likes to follow the latest styles. Is it wrong to dress the way that makes her feel right? Besides she finds it hysterical when guys think that they can get with her. Sure that can definitely come off as being extremely cocky or vain in a way but Mia just has a particular standard and interest in guys. They must be rugged, tough, have to have some sort of muscular feature going on, they have to have to be attractive in her eyes obviously, be protective, sarcastic like herself, and they have to have a bad boy vibe. Granted Mia's track record with men hasn't bee sucessful. Most of the "bad boys" were womanizers and would sleep with other people behind her back. After years of getting her heart broken she has finally started to smarten up. Its time to start playing hard to get.
Finishing the last hoof that she was on Mia straightened up, facing the man behind her. She'd never seen him before, as sure as hell she'd of remembered him. He stood there looking like one of the typical cowboys she'd usually have her eyes set on. His comment about being around these parts so late without being unaccompanied made her chuckle. Giving the hoof pick a light toss into the grooming bucket she stood with her hands on her hips as she spoke in her smooth southern accent."I've got a colt .45 with me all times. Wouldn't quite call that being alone, its as good as a man any day." A sly smile escaped her lips as she spoke. It was no lie, every where she went she brought her gun. Her father always demanded that she'd have one with her, just in case. You can't trust many people these days with murders happening for no reason or even with these hot headed men who are just lookin' for a good time even if the woman insists on not. A woman's gotta protect herself.
Mia watched the man intently, studying him from head to toe. Maybe she was being blunt, just a bit, but she couldn't resist. Whomever he was he was a fine looking man indeed. With that note and with what he had just said she has solitified her case in discovering yet another man who definitely always has a flock of women swooning over him all the time. Been there, done that. Eyes locked on him as he strolled over and stopped just on the other side of the mare's head. Only Lucky's head seperated the two, just within reach.. His compliment was kind along with his handsome yet devilish smile. Mia gave a similar smile back before speaking, "Why thank you. Lucky's one of my two girls." A hand came up to patt the mare's soft white muzzle before regaining eye contact with the man before her. Brow raised slightly, "I'm Mia, rec'con I haven't come across you here yet. I'd certainly remember that encounter." Mia winked with that last comment, she lingered for a moment before grabbing the professional choice boots and velcrowing all four colorful boots around the mare's legs, purposely switching weight from one foot to another as she bent over. What can she say, she loves to give men a hard time. It was entertaining to watch them squerm within their skin, that is if they do find her attractive, if they don't then its obviously a useless thing to attempt.

Johnny OliverWhen a girl bends over like that...well you can't help but stare. And the kind of guy Johnny is, well he defiantly stared. Her words rang true. And a smirk was plastered upon his facials as she spoke of owning a pistol. Well, good for her. At least she had some means of protection. Especially out here. Red gave a low nicker from his stall. Johnny turned and looked at him for a second. Red was just making noise to make noise. His attention returned to the girl. "At least you have some sort of protection around here" Lyrics spoke out. She was either raised up right, or just smart.
As she stepped closer, leaving nothing but the horses head between them, his smile widened a little as he got a good look at the girls face. She spoke of another horse, so she had two? One was enough to keep Johnny busy, so he couldn't imagine how busy she must be with two horses. "So you have another horse? Is she as beautiful as you" His signature crooked smile came to his facials as he spoke. Just trying to get on her good side right? But there was no denying it, this girl was beautiful and of course she knew it. The way she flaunted herself, making it seem like she was easy. But, Johnny had been around the block more than once and just because they knew how to flaunt it, doesn't exactly mean they give it up so easily. He had a feeling this was one of those girls. Mainly because she looked older...wiser if you must, and she was very good at what she was doing.
Her name hit his ears and his crooked grin was still plastered to his facials. "Pleasure Mia. I'm Johnny and yes, I'm new here. Just moved in not long ago. I was checking on my horse, Red" He motioned towards his stall as his big sorrel horse was hidden in the shadows. "He isn't one for a meet and greet, tired ole thing" A small chuckle was given as Red's big head remained in the stall. Munching on hay or sleeping. This was when his Texas accent came through. It wasn't a thick one, but you could tell he really wasn't from here. His head turned back to the girl. Graciously moving out of her way as she placed the boots on her mare. "Going for a ride, I take it?" Lyrics spoke out again. His eyes never leaving her. His mind churned with thoughts on how to get on her good side, on how to get what he wanted. But he believed he had a spit fire on his hands and could possibly just let this beauty go and search for something easier. Than again...maybe not...

She shrugged in response to having protection. It was indeed quite the item to have on you. It came in handy many times to ward off creepy men. She'd never actually use it on anyone unless the time called for it. Mia would never Kill, she knows the points of the body that you are suppose to hit to just wound, such as a shoulder, leg, or arm. Having a fire arm isn't very different to her, her father always had multiple weapons around their house. He would always take her out to their back property to teach her how to shoot since she was 10. He wanted her to be able to defend herself just in case there is ever a time in which she needs to be able to do so.
Returning from putting the lime green and hot pink professional choice boots on Lucky she stood before the man. Smiling, she replied, "Yes I have another competition mare." Most people from these parts were more fans of western riding, it was as if english riding was frowned upon despite the fact that there are many local sanctioned english shows that are held within a reasonable driving distance. A brow raised in an 'oh really' expression as she chuckled. "How many times have you tried to sneak that comment into a conversation Cowboy? So you're comparing me to a horse?" She had to bite her bottom lip to refrain from laughing at the last comment. That was a new one for her, the comparison that is. It was a good effort she had to admit. Stepping up extremely close to him she looked up, since he was taller than her, waited a moment before speaking. "You're going to have to try much harder than that Cowboy." She winked as she poked his chest, before grabbing her grooming box and putting it back in her tack box.
Eyes stayed on the handsome cowboy as he introduced himself and his horse. She took note of his southern accent that was slightly different from her own. It always interested her on how each of the southern state's people had just a touch of a different accent. There's nothing like an accent to make a person more attractive, even if it were only slightly different. Stepping closer, practically touching him. she stood by Johnny to peer into his horse's stall. The horse was quite the looker she had to admit that he definitely has a good taste in horses. His voice broke the silence that seeped over them. Eyes returned to his, "Yea, figured a some bareback work would be good. She's been working hard all week. I like to give my horses a light ride the day before their day off." Pausing a moment she pondered, only because she just assumed this guy only wants one thing. The only thing that all men want. Sex of course, its a given. Of course women want the same thing, herself included. Isn't that what they're ment to do. Maybe things could lead to a good time. Unlike the tramps that are roaming around now a days she always makes a man work for it. Its not like she sleeps around, only rarely does she have a one nighter but thats only because she does have ambitions on ending up like her parents and having a long marrage. Since she's getting on in years that dream is dwindling. "You're more than welcome in joining me if you'd like." The girl spoke kindly, not giving him shit for once. The only thing running through her mind was what could possibly happen next.

Johnny Oliver
So this girl was also into the whole competition thing. Eyes rolled in their sockets about the thought of English riding and all that jazz that went with it. Yes, this cowboy has tried it, therefore; he can say he despises the English way of riding. Yes, it has its pros and what not, but in his eyes, Western is the only way to go. Laid back slow horses were better than the hot ones in his eyes. He gave a chuckle at her comment. "Oh not many. Who wouldn't want to be compared to these beautiful creatures?" Lyrics spoke out fondly. He had a soft spot for horses and it was starting to show a little here. A crooked grin came across his facials as he turned back to the girl before him.
Try harder Who said anything about trying? Though Johnny was thrown for a bit of a loop, most girls just threw themselves at him because of his good looks and charm. Well, darling, who said I was even trying" A smirk replaced is childish grin as he spoke. Yes, she was a little spit fire and he could even with the few short moments they had spent together. Was Johnny really going to pursue a girl who like playing hard to get? But at the same time she was real and not one of those little fake girls that always seemed to find their way into Johnny's.......bed.
He listened to Mia as she spoke of giving her horse the day off. She seemed to know what she was doing. Some horses were actually athletes and needed to be treated like one. Like most athletes, days off were always welcomed. He turned back to Red for a moment as he finally decided to see what was going on. When she offered for him to join he had to ponder for a moment. Red would be fine he was sure of it. The laid back brute was one of a kind, especially for being a thoroughbred. A small sigh was given as he turned back to Mia. Well, I may just have to take you up on that offer, darlin' lyrics spoke out and his crooked grin returned to his facials.
With a swift turn he made the short walk to Red's stall and placed the 4-knotted rope blue halter over his head. Red gave him a look like Really? Are we really doing this just so you can impress a girl Johnny's hand patted the big sorrel horse's forehead and then opened the stall door. The 16.2hh horse walked out of his stall and yielded his hind quarters to Johnny. Johnny slung the lead rope around his neck and tied it to his halter. He decided to go bareback also and Red really didn't need his bridle at this point. Never really did.Mind if I borrow your brush for a quick minute? lyrics spoke as he turned to Mia. Red's head hung level with his shoulders and his rear foot was cocked as he relaxed. Johnny let the lead rope hang loosely around the geldings neck as he waited her answer.
